Entering The Blogosphere.

Here we go!  A brand new year and, finally, the debut of our very own blog.  It’s been a long time coming and we are excited to have a platform to share with you an insight into our ideals and our food.  

 

I would like to first take the opportunity to talk a little bit about us.  Let you get to know Dandelion Catering.

 

Established in 2009, we are a family owned and operated business.

 

 Christian and I both grew up in Maine.  I think we would describe ourselves as creative people who can’t stand still, which made us prime candidates for the food industry.  We both enjoy food in our own ways.  For Christian, it’s all about flavor, texture and color.  I love to watch him plate up a dish.  To watch all the little pieces that have thoughtfully been prepared find their place on a plate.  Then, I love to be able to taste all the flavors that he has created.  Always amazing!  

 

 

For me, I love to cook but it has always been more about the excitement of feeding a group of people.  I’ve always been drawn to catering because not only do you get to travel all around this amazing state but you get to be a part of someone’s special event.  Be it a wedding, anniversary, birthday party, or dinner party - you are invited inside and given the opportunity to be a part of a pretty special day.  

 

 

Because we are so deeply rooted in Maine, buying local and supporting local business has been one of our biggest driving points.  This blog is an exciting opportunity to share with you who we work with for local vendors and spources, and why we choose to work with them.

 

Dandelion had a crazy start not unlike most small businesses do.  First established with a dear friend of mine, Lindsay Matranga, we had a vision of starting small, and were surprised by how fast our name got out there.  We worked hard, started our own families along the way, and found our little company growing in a way we couldn’t have imagined.  With growth came hardships and I was sad but also happy for Lindsay when she decided to leave Dandelion and spend more time at home with the addition of her second child.  With my first child on the way, I was even more determined to grow the business and was exhilarated by the idea of sharing this task with my husband.  

 

The journey has been a long and crazy one but we would not have had it any other way.  Starting from a basement kitchen, rented on a need-be basis, with no storage or walk in space, we carved out a name. We worked our fingers to the bone, and fought to balance day jobs, a home, a baby, and a growing company that was seeing astronomical growth. When the opportunity to move our business up to our hometown of Yarmouth presented itself, we almost lost our minds.  To this day, we can’t believe our fortune.  To walk into a beautiful kitchen space, windows on two sides, with views of the Royal River has been amazing.

 Once we were moved in, we turned focus to building our team, and what an amazing team we have.  We would not be where we are without their dedication and hard work. As the blog grows, we are excited to write pieces that showcase the incredible team we have grown with. Who they are, their backgrounds, and their incredible contributions they have made to further Dandelion along. We cannot wait to introduce them to you.
